Lepismium miyagawae is a species of the genus Lepismium in the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Lepismium miyagawae grows epiphytically and shrubby with initially upright, later spreading or hanging shoots . The mostly triangular, sometimes square or pentagonal, soft-fleshed, somewhat humped shoot segments are up to 1 meter long and have a diameter of 1.5 to 2 centimeters. The short, white woolly areoles have three to five whitish thorns up to 7 millimeters long.

The broad, bell-shaped, bright orange flowers appear near the shoot tips. They are up to 1.5 centimeters long and 3 to 4 centimeters in diameter. Your pericarpel is humped and covered with numerous bristles. The spherical, whitish, translucent fruits have a diameter of up to 1 centimeter.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Lepismium miyagawae is widespread in the Bolivian department of Santa Cruz in the Yungas forests at altitudes of 600 meters.

It was first described as Pfeiffera miyagawae in 1987 by Wilhelm Barthlott and Werner Rauh . Wilhelm Barthlott placed the species in the genus Lepismium in the same year . A nomenclature synonym is Rhipsalis miyagawae (Barthlott & Rauh) Kimnach (1996).

In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is called " Data Deficient (DD) ", i. H. with insufficient data.
