Leptadenia pyrotechnica is a species of the genus Leptadenia in the subfamily of the silk plants (Asclepiadoideae) within the dog venom family(Apocynaceae).

description

Leptadenia pyrotechnica is a heavily branched shrub that reaches heights of 1 to 3 meters. The roots reach up to 12 m below the surface. It usually has green to gray-green branches and there are usually no leaves. If these are present, they are opposite, sessile, about 2 cm long and 3 mm wide.

The greenish-yellow flowers have a diameter of 2 mm and are axillary, zymous inflorescences . The fruits are up to 8 cm long.

distribution

Leptadenia pyrotechnica occurs in Africa in the Sahara and Sahel zone , on the Arabian Peninsula and in the east as far as India .
