Leuchars Castle is a decayed low castle near the country town of Leuchars in the Scottish county of Fife .
history
A wooden moth was erected on this site in the 12th century . The city of Leuchars was elevated to a baronate during the reign of King William the Lion . In the 13th century the castle was rebuilt in stone. Gilbert Marshal, 4th Earl of Pembroke , attacked the castle with his troops in 1327 and dragged it. Leuchars Castle was besieged and attacked by Sir Andrew Murray's troops in 1337 , until the English garrison surrendered.
Leuchars Castle was rebuilt in the 16th century, but was finally demolished in the 19th century.
