Lexicon of the Righteous Among the Nations
The German-language Lexicon of the Righteous Among the Nations is part of the overall project of the multi-volume Lexicon of the Righteous at Yad Vashem .
It has been published since 2005 by Israel Gutman with the collaboration of Sara Bender, or in the successor of Daniel Fraenkel and Jakob Borut in Wallstein-Verlag . Not only well-known personalities like Oskar Schindler and Raoul Wallenberg were silent helpers (also known as the savior of the Jews) . The majority of the women and men who remained unknown after the war risked their lives to save Jews, be they neighbors or hitherto unknown people, by providing accommodation or helping them flee from the Nazi persecution of Jews in Europe . The lexicon also provides compact information on the thanks process of the State of Israel by the Righteous Commission in Jerusalem for Germany and Austria of all processes completed up to 2005. This makes research on individuals much easier. It contains an afterword by Federal President Horst Köhler .
