Leyer and Schwerdt (in other spellings: Leyer and sword , lyre and sword ) is a collection of patriotic poems by Theodor Körner (1791–1813), which first appeared posthumously in 1814 and mostly contains poems from the last year of his life. The poet took part in the Wars of Liberation as a lieutenant in the Lützow Freikorps and died in August 1813 near Gadebusch .

The importance of the volume initially published by the poet 's father ( Vienna 1814) is shown in the numerous new editions. Several poems, Lützow's wild hunt , equestrian song , sword song, were set to music, for example Lützow's wild hunt by Carl Maria von Weber and Franz Schubert ( D. 205).
