Liana Bertók

Liana Bertók (* 1959 in Ocna Mureș , Romania , born Liana Vicol ) is a German pianist and composer of Romanian descent.

life and work

Liana Bertók began taking piano lessons in her hometown from the age of five. At the age of 16 she made her first appearances as a soloist with the Philharmonic Orchestra Iași. There she studied piano and supplemented her training with composition lessons with Anton Zeman. In Germany she continued her studies in Berlin with Dieter Brauer. She took part in master classes with the French pianist Francois-Joel Thiollier and Viviane Goergen, among others.

From 1982 to the 1990s she worked as a concert pianist at the Sorbian National Ensemble and at the German-Sorbian People's Theater in Bautzen . Concert appearances at home and abroad followed. She gave several master classes, including a. in Seoul ( South Korea ).

From 1985 to 2000 she was teaching at the Carl Maria von Weber Academy of Music (Dresden). After that she devoted herself more and more to her own compositions. Her extensive output includes symphonic works, chamber music , songs and film music . She deals intensively with Sorbian music and received the Domowina Prize in 2009.

Liana Bertók took over ENA-Musikverlag in 2004 and is the editor of Sorbian compositions and works by unknown masters, including songs and chamber music by Leopold Schäfer and Johann Gottlieb Naumann . Liana Bertók is an individual member of the Saxon Music Council .
