Location Libertas within the Fjäderholmarna archipelago

Libertas is an island in the Stockholm archipelago belonging to Sweden .

It is the third largest island in the Fjäderholmarna archipelago and belongs to the municipality of Lidingö . Libertas has a base of approximately triangular shape, with an edge length of about 100 meters. A narrow headland extends to the northeast. The island is forested and built on with several buildings. Immediately south of Libertas is the island of Rövarns holme , with which Libertas forms a bird sanctuary.

The name Libertas probably goes back to a ship of that name that sank nearby. Sometimes the name Gröne Jägaren is used for the island, which is also said to go back to a sunken ship. In 1931, the lighthouse Libertus fyr was built on the northwest corner of the island , whose beacon is operated with acetylene gas.

From 1918 to 1976 Libertas was part of a restricted military area. From 1982 the island was under the Royal Djurgården Administration (Kungliga Djurgårdens Förvaltning). The island has been part of the Royal National City Park since 1995 .
