Lich King is an American thrash metal band from Amherst , Massachusetts that was formed in 2004.
history
The band was founded in 2004 as a solo project by Tom Martin. After the first two albums called Necromantic Maelstrom (2007) and Toxic Zombie Onslaught (2008), members of the group Ages Ago were added to the line-up in 2009. In the following three years, World Gone Dead , Super Retro Thrash and Born of the Bomb each followed an album, before the next followed in 2017 under the name The Omniclasm .
style
Holger Andrae from Powermetal.de wrote in his review of Necromantic Maelstrom that you can hear Thrash Metal on it, where the vocals consist of dominant, non-melodic shouting that takes getting used to, reminiscent of Paul Baloff ( Exodus ). The texts are mostly of a humorous nature. In the songs riffs in the style of Slayer , Dark Angel and early Megadeth can be heard. However, the group lags a little behind other young thrash metal bands such as Gama Bomb , Hatchet or Fueled by Fire . Guntram Pintgen of Ox-Fanzine stated in his review that World Gone Dead is a classic style of thrash metal that includes fast riffs, bad solos and mediocre vocals. Overall, the music can be described as a mixture of SOD and Slayer. Michael Pementel from metalinjection.net said in the review of the album The Omniclasm that it contained serious, but also funny lyrics. The songs are angry and mostly fast, although there are similarities to Slayer.
