Thomas McIntosh (life dates unknown) was a Scottish football player who was active for The Wednesday in the Football League in 1893 .

Career

McIntosh first appeared in football in the Scottish FA Cup in 1889/90 as right winger for Glasgow club FC Linthouse and was active with Linthouse several times in friendly games in England in early 1891 (including in Sheffield). For the 1891/92 season he belonged to FC Clyde and played for this in the Scottish Football League . For the club, he played 29 league games and scored one goal. On February 28, 1891, he played a trial match for the Scottish national team. At the end of 1891 he was with Clyde in the final of the Glasgow Cup , which was lost 7-1 to Celtic Glasgow .

McIntosh was a member of the Sheffielder club The Wednesday from 1892 to 1894 , the club was newly included in the Football League First Division for the season 1892/93 . McIntosh was described in a match report for the friendly against Scottish club Battlefield FC on December 31, 1892 as " the new player " and was also successful as a goalscorer in the 6-2 win. The Athletic News certified McIntosh in his debut game, in which only two English players played, Fred Spiksley and Billy Betts , an “excellent game on right winger. He fitted well, shot well, worked hard and wasn't the least bit selfish. "

Mostly on the right wing McIntosh made his competitive debut a short time later on January 7th in a 5-1 away defeat by Aston Villa , where he scored his team's consolation goal. In the following weeks he was still used and mostly formed the right attacking side with Harry Davis ; after six defeats and a draw, his eighth league appearance against Notts County also scored his first win 3-2. In the following season 1893/94 McIntosh was called up only once, after a 1: 5 defeat at Blackburn Rovers in September 1893 he was only used in the reserve team until his departure at the end of the season.

With the reserve team called Wednesday Wanderers , he won the Sheffield League in 1892/93 . In March 1893 he was defeated with the team of Sheffield Strollers , the reserve team of local rivals United, in the final of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup with 1: 3. The 1893/94 season of the Sheffield League ended in Division 1 on the first place in the table, against the winner of Division 2 , Mexborough FC , but lost in the playoff for the championship with 0: 1.

In 1894/95 it belonged again to Linthouse.
