Liebfrauenkirche (Bottrop)
The Catholic Liebfrauenkirche is a listed church building in Bottrop-Eigen , an independent city in North Rhine-Westphalia .
history
The Liebfrauenkirche was built between 1909 and 1914 as part of the development of the Eigen district according to plans by the Cologne cathedral builder Bernhard Hertel and his brother Hilger Hertel the Younger .
architecture
The church is a stylish neo-Gothic basilica with a transept. The square, pointed dome-crowned portal tower with an octagonal upper floor is the highest in the diocese of Essen at 78 meters. The interior, vaulted with cross ribs, is painted white, the architectural structures are set off as stone. Due to damaged finials , the church was partially fenced in in April 2017 to protect passers-by.
Furnishing
window
Little has been preserved of the original equipment. The artistically sophisticated stained glass windows from different decades of the 20th century are remarkable .
organ
The organ was built in 1929 by Romanus Seifert and restored in 1989 by Weyland Orgelbau. Another restoration by the Franz Rietzsch company took place in 2006. An English-romantic choir organ from York from 1855 was connected. The instrument has 62 registers on four manuals and a pedal . The playing and stop actions as well as the coupling are electric. The choir organ in the function of the remote control has its own console with mechanical play and stop action.
