Song for NRW

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The song for NRW or Here on the Rhine and Ruhr and in Westphalia has been an unofficial national anthem since the celebrations for the 60th birthday of North Rhine-Westphalia . Unlike the local "hymns" of the Bergisches Land ( Bergisches Heimatlied ), of Lippe-Detmold ( Lippe-Detmold, a beautiful city ), Cologne ( homesickness for Cologne ), Ostwestfalen-Lippe ( Weser (bow) song ), of the Sauerland and from Westphalia ( Westfalenlied ), all residents “on the Rhine and Ruhr and in Westphalia, on Sieg and Ems , in the Lipperland ” (as it says in the song's text) should be able to identify with this song .

history

The song is a gift from Westdeutscher Rundfunk Köln to the state of North Rhine-Westphalia on its 60th birthday. It was premiered on August 23, 2006, the official state birthday, and had its first major appearance at the citizens' festival in the state capital of Düsseldorf on August 27, 2006. It was sung by numerous choirs and other guests under the direction of the conductor Dietmar Mensinger and the accompaniment of the Bläck Fööss and the Landesblasorchester .

text

Our land was burned in the wounds
which the war struck.
But with heart and mind
you took your fate into your own hands.
Created from ruins
when hope was finally found again.
Here on the Rhine and Ruhr and in Westphalia;
Alaaf , Helau , Glückauf for our country!
Refrain:
Here on the Rhine and Ruhr and in Westphalia,
to Sieg and Ems,
in the Lipperland,
here on the Rhine and Ruhr and in Westphalia,
our heart beats, our country lives!
(our heart beats, our country lives!)
New home, new happiness
many have found it here with you.
Buildings for the future piece by piece,
and she threw it back many times.
In the colorful marketplace of cultures
there is life, everyone has their own status.
Here on the Rhine and Ruhr and in Westphalia;
Kölsch , Alt and Pils , we stand here hand in hand!
Here on the Rhine and Ruhr and in Westphalia,
to Sieg and Ems,
in the Lipperland,
here on the Rhine and Ruhr and in Westphalia,
our heart beats, our country lives!
(our heart beats, our country lives!)
Here on the Rhine and Ruhr and in Westphalia,
to Sieg and Ems,
in the Lipperland,
here on the Rhine and Ruhr and in Westphalia,
our heart beats, our country lives!
(our heart beats, our country lives!)
(our heart beats, our country lives!)

The Westdeutsche Rundfunk Köln, which celebrated its 50th birthday in 2006, wanted to show with this song that North Rhine-Westphalia has long since ceased to be the unpopular "hyphenated land", but home to its residents. So said the WDR director Fritz Pleitgen .
