The Landesblasorchester NRW is a selection orchestra of the Volksmusikerbund NRW eV It consists of around 65 musicians and has existed since 1989.

history

The regional associations Rhineland e. V. and Westfalen-Lippe e. V. merged in 1989 to form the common state association of the Volksmusikerbund in North Rhine-Westphalia and decided to set up a common state wind orchestra. The state conductors Theo Aust and Hans-Paul Breuer took on this task and the orchestra made its first appearance in 1991 on the occasion of the first state music festival in North Rhine-Westphalia in Geseke .

The further development of the Landesblasorchester was then in the hands of Hans-Paul Breuer and Rita Vogt . In 1995, after rehearsals, the conductor and orchestra teacher at the Landesmusikakademie NRW eV, Renold Quade , succeeded in winning the orchestra.

tasks

As an association orchestra, the orchestra performs representative tasks for the Volksmusikerbund NRW and, as a multiplier orchestra, promotes the musical developments of its member associations. The ensemble cultivates musical traditions and contemporary trends in concert and entertaining music for large concert band. Original compositions, world premieres, but also arrangements of film scores and musicals present a broad repertoire.

As a representative orchestra, it is represented with concerts at every regional music festival of the Volksmusikerbund NRW. It also takes on the association's accompanying tasks to festive events such as the Pro-Musica plaque or the Zelter plaque , the State Music Academy NRW or anniversary celebrations and concerts at various state garden shows and state music days in NRW. Joint appearances with the national musicians corps of North Rhine-Westphalia round off the work in the Volksmusikerbund NRW.

A special concern is the promotion of interdisciplinary cultural work through benefit and charity concerts in connection with other artistic performances. The Landesblasorchester thus makes an important contribution to the cooperation between the various cultural associations within and outside of the Landesmusikrat NRW.

Renold Quade from Düren is the chief conductor . As a seminar leader, he is involved in conducting training at the Landesmusikakademie NRW and is regularly involved in music competitions, including as a federal judge. He demands high artistic quality and committed dedication from his orchestral musicians.

The Landesblasorchester NRW sets musical priorities and appears as a guest orchestra throughout NRW. Events of an international character are also part of the orchestra's task profile.

The focus is on promoting young composers, especially from North Rhine-Westphalia. New orchestral works were z. B. Focus on a special concert in the Dortmund-Hohensyburg casino. The Landesblasorchester NRW has also premiered winning titles from composition competitions several times. Highlights were concerts with soloists such as Steven Mead (euphonium), Frits Damrow (trumpet) and Oto Vrhovnik (saxophone).

The Landesblasorchester has participated in various radio and television productions. As a concert partner of the WDR, the Landesblasorchester is, for example, a permanent guest at the "Bläserklänge" (WDR 4) or at " Klingendes NRW " with Gisbert Baltes on WDR television.

In 2002 the regional brass orchestra went on a concert tour to the People's Republic of China as the cultural ambassador of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia . Nine concerts between Beijing and Shanghai , a. a. with the support of Volkswagen in the Ritz-Carlton / Shanghai, were part of the program. The tour ended with the CD production “Good News From China”.

In 2005 the orchestra undertook a trip to the Czech Republic , which had won several international awards . The orchestra also appeared at the celebrations for the 60th birthday of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in Düsseldorf or in Essen , the 2010 cultural capital .

In November 2006, the orchestra achieved 1st place in the "National Selection Orchestra " category at the 3rd nationwide competition for selected orchestras in Trossingen and was named the best selected orchestra.

At the turn of the year 2013/2014, the orchestra went on a concert tour to China for the second time. The main theme of the concert tour was a classical New Year's concert program, including Chinese and German folk goods. The seven concerts took place mainly in the Chinese province of Zhejiang . The tour took place in Huzhou , Wenzhou , Ningbo , Lishui , Hangzhou , Shanghai and Beijing .

Support association

In 2000, the Society of Friends and Patrons of the Landesblasorchester NRW eV was founded under the decisive initiative of Josef Heithausen. The first managing director of the association was Otto Levermann. Leading cultural politicians from the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament, such as Monika Brunert-Jetter , Elisabeth Koschorreck and Thomas Sternberg , are currently involved in the company's board of directors . a.
