Liesel Schuch-Ganzel

Elisabeth Franziska von Schuch-Ganzel (born December 12, 1891 in Dresden ; † January 10, 1990 there ; also Liesel von Schuch , Liesel Schuch-Ganzel , née von Schuch) was a German opera singer ( coloratura soprano ).

Life

Liesel von Schuch grew up with her parents, the conductor Ernst von Schuch and the opera singer Clementine von Schuch-Proska , in Niederlößnitz (now part of Radebeul ) in Schuchstrasse 15/17. She was a sister of the soprano Käthe von Schuch-Schmidt and the cellist Hans von Schuch .

In 1913 she made her debut in La traviata as Violetta in Wiesbaden. Like her mother, she became a coloratura soprano and became a royal Saxon court opera singer, later a Dresden chamber singer and was a permanent member of the Saxon State Opera until 1935 . Until 1967 she worked as a singing teacher at the Music Academy in Dresden .

She performed in Dresden and Vienna, in Dresden she gave solo appearances in the Frauenkirche , the Kreuzkirche and the Catholic Court Church .

In 1988 she was made an honorary citizen of Dresden on the occasion of her 97th birthday .

She was married to Corvette Captain Wilhelm Ganzel. Together they had a son (Christian Schuch-Ganzel).

She was buried in the Radebeul-West cemetery near her parents.
