Life in Paradise is a documentary film by the Swiss director Roman Vital from 2013 , which deals with the coexistence of rejected asylum seekers and the local population in the Grisons municipality of Valzeina .

The former holiday home Flüeli in Valzeina has been used against the will of the locals as an exit center for rejected asylum seekers who cannot or do not want to leave and only receive emergency aid since 2007 . By showing the lives of the villagers as well as the lives of the rejected asylum seekers, the film shows viewers on the one hand the consequences of Swiss asylum policy using a concrete example and on the other hand addresses a topic of global importance: the meeting of wealthy people from the North with destitute and illegal immigrants from the southern hemisphere . Because of this, the film is primarily relevant to the debate about Swiss asylum law, but it also contributes somewhat to addressing the pan-European dealings with asylum seekers and, above all, rejected asylum seekers at the beginning of the 21st century.
