history
The history of the Professional Baseball League of Colombia is divided into three eras: from 1948 to 1958, from 1979 to 1988, and from 1993 to today. In 2004 the league was accepted by the Caribbean Baseball Association , the Confederación de Béisbol del Caribe . At the moment, however, the LCBP champion is not yet taking part in the Serie del Caribe (Caribbean championship) due to a too low level of play and venue requirements that have yet to be met . However, the league intends to participate in the series del Caribe as early as 2012.
The league was expanded to include two teams for the 2010/11 season: the Potros de Medellín from Medellín and the Águilas de Bogotá from Bogotá . The Toros moved from Sincelejo to Cali. However, the 2010/11 season was canceled on December 8, 2010 due to the severe onset of winter.
