The Ligbi (also Ligwi , Nigbi , Nigwi , Tuba , Banda , Dzowo , Namasa , Tsie , Weila , Wiila , Weela and Jogo ) is the language of the West African Ligbi ethnic group with only about 15,000 speakers in Ghana (2003 GILLBT ) and about 4,000 speakers in Ivory Coast .
In Ghana, Ligbi is spoken in Numasa in the northwestern area of the Brong-Ahafo region , east of Sampa and northwest of Wenchi .
In Ivory Coast, Ligbi is used in the Eastern Department in a larger village called Bineto. There is also a speaker group in Bouna and the town of Slil near Boundoukou and some speakers in Ourodougou on the edge of the area where Malinke is spoken.
Recognized dialects are Bungase, Gyogo, Hwela (Weila, Wiila, Weela, Vwela), Dwera (Manji-Kasa), Atumfour (Atoumfuor-Kasa) and Ntoleh.
