The Lightweight Uphill was Germany's largest cycling - mountain time trial and found 2,006 to 2,012 annually in July in Deggenhausertal instead. In 2011 and 2012 the event was held as the German Mountain Championship. The race has been organized on a voluntary basis since 2006 by RSV Seerose eV and numerous cycling friends from the Lake Constance area . The Freundeskreis Uphill eV emerged from this group at the end of 2010 . In August 2012, the main sponsor ( Lightweight ) decided not to support the race anymore.

history

The race was held for the first time in 2006 as part of the opening of the Stoppomat and was Germany's largest mountain time trial in its first year.

Route

The route is on the first original Stoppomat route on the Höchst from Urnau / Schönemühle via Wattenberg , Limpach , Azenweiler , Wahlweiler to Glashütten . The route is 8,200 meters long and climbs 360 meters in five waves with an incline of up to 11 percent.

German mountain championships

In 2011 and 2012 the Lightweight Uphill was held as the German Mountain Championships of the BDR . For the first time , an individual time trial was carried out as a qualification using the Gundersen method, followed by a pursuit. Around a third of the drivers from the qualification run started with the intervals between this run and the result run.

License race

The event includes the following categories according to BDR regulations 3.7 / 8/9/10/11/12/13/14/15/16/17/18/19/20/22/23/24/25.

Hobby races

Around 650 hobby starters of all classes start as part of the license races. The classification takes place according to the BDR categories.

organization

The race was organized entirely on a voluntary basis. The entry fee covered around 40% of the event costs. The annual funding gap was closed by the namesake. The basic intention of the organizers was to build an annual event around the stoppomat , so that the users of the permanent timing systems have the chance to prove their stamped climbing times in front of an audience once a year and to get to know the respective opponents. The organizing association was the Freundeskreis Uphill . The organizers' demands included a race on a cordoned-off track with electronic timekeeping in addition to a marquee, finisher jersey, stage show, hot showers, a manufacturer's expo and a photo service.
