history

The first Stoppomat was planned and projected in Germany in 2005, built and put into operation in spring 2006. Up until then, comparable devices had been manufactured in Switzerland and Austria . Since 2003, Swisstrophy has been providing three mobile systems at nine different locations for a short period of time. At the Grossglockner and the Albula Pass have long been fixed installations in use.

The first system in Germany is at the highest point , which at 833 meters is the highest point in the Lake Constance area . The start house stands at 499 meters above sea level. NN in the Schönemühle near Urnau , the target column at 830 meters above sea level near Glashütten . The season opening of the timekeeping season has been taking place on this first system in the series since 2007.

The start house and the mountain station were planned, built and put into operation in spring 2006 by the cycling club RSV Seerose eV from Friedrichshafen . On the 8.2 kilometer route, 360 meters in altitude must be overcome to the summit. The course record is held by professional cyclist Jörg Ludewig from the Wiesenhof-Felt team with 16:09 minutes. This corresponds to an average speed of 30.46 km / h.

The most important event on the facility was the Lightweight Uphill , which took place annually until 2012 . With 950 participants in 2011, the competition was Germany's largest mountain time trial for cyclists at the time and was therefore awarded the German Mountain Championship in 2011 by the Association of German Cyclists . In 2006, 2007 and 2008, cyclists used the facility around 11,800 times the most at the first facility to document their training time or to compare it with other athletes. Cyclists, runners, Nordic walkers, skaters and handbikers are managed in different categories.

In 2010, the Stoppomat routes were recognized by the Germany - Land of Ideas initiative as a “Landmark in the Land of Ideas”. The ten systems are stamped around 22,000 times a year.

In 2013, with the combination facility in Renchtal / Oppenau, a first mountain bike route was opened next to the racing bike route from the Kniebissteige.

All other systems are built exclusively on a voluntary basis for interested clubs and jointly projected. The focus of the builders and partner clubs is the free use of all facilities and the promotion of mountain time trials.

handling

  • The athlete pulls a card from the card dispenser in the start house and writes it on.
  • The card is stamped at the start of timing. The Stoppomat stamps the current time.
  • After covering the distance, he stamps the card again on the second device in the target house. The travel time required results from the time difference between the two times.
  • The athlete can insert the card in a box provided for this purpose. This is regularly emptied and the data is entered in a database. The results are then available on a website.

Components of the Stoppomat

  • The system, protected by utility model and trademark law, consists of a sheet metal housing and at least two radio-synchronized time clocks. Stamp cards can be stamped and canceled in various formats.
  • The documented start, intermediate and end times can be processed further.
  • The Stoppomat has electronics with a pressure function, timekeeping with a DCF77 radio receiver and an independent power supply for a buffer time of one week.
  • It is structurally protected against vandalism , precipitation and temperature influences.
  • The Linux- based input and output software integrates numerous filter options to classify sports results according to age, gender, origin, club membership, appearance, postcodes and sports equipment.

Second generation

  • The second generation Stoppomat is characterized by the integration of the card dispenser, card slot and writing desk.
  • In addition, the housing was supplemented by a carbon housing for the stamp unit.
  • The start and finish stations are protected from excessive weather by a shelter. The shelters are in joinery -Zentrum Heiligenberg in CNC technology prefabricated.

Android APP

  • The third generation has been in operation since autumn 2014. There is also an Android smartphone application. The timekeeping is started and stopped using GPS in a corridor around the fixed valley and mountain stations. The evaluation works automatically and can be uploaded to the database by command.

Tour-Stoppomat-Challenge

Since the winter of 2007/2008, several new facilities have been built, which are operated by the voluntary commitment of the local sports clubs and by sponsors.

Systems were put into operation at the following locations:

To achieve a series rating, the evaluation software generates a system average and sets this quotient to 100. The personal driving time is related to this system quotient and then added to the series rating. The athlete can improve his overall rating by driving several routes. Fast drivers who only drive one route can be displaced in the overall standings by weaker mountain drivers if they drive several routes.

Award ceremony in Maikammer, June 27, 2010
