Martin Pringle (born November 18, 1970 in Gothenburg ) is a former Swedish football player who now works as a coach.

Career

Pringle initially played only under-class at Vallens IF and Stenungsunds IF , before he was discovered and committed in 1994 by Helsingborgs IF . After being runner-up in Sweden twice with the club, he moved to Portugal to Benfica Lisbon . After three years in southern Europe, he moved to England in 1999, where he was loaned to Charlton Athletic . With three goals in seven games, he convinced those responsible for the club and was firmly committed. In 2001 he broke his leg for the first time. To gain match practice, he was loaned to Grimsby Town in 2002 . In his second game for the club, he broke his leg a second time after a brutal foul by Dave Challinor . While the club sued the opponent, Pringle decided to retire.

Pringle returned to Sweden and became an assistant coach at the Gothenburg club GAIS . After two years he ended his engagement with the Swedish second division, but stayed in Gothenburg. At the women's football club Göteborg FC , which played in Damallsvenskan , he covered his first job as head coach until the end of 2007. He then went to the then second division club Örgryte IS as an assistant to Janne Carlsson . With the Gothenburg club he rose at the end of the season, but in the Allsvenskan the club was in a relegation battle from the start of the 2009 season . In the summer of the year, the club decided to change coach, so Pringle assisted Norwegian Åge Hareide . At the end of the season, the team still missed relegation.

In December 2009, local rivals and third division club Västra Frölunda IF signed Pringle as their new head coach. However , he ended the 2010 season on a relegation zone. In July 2011 he moved to Denmark as assistant to Roland Nilsson, who was signed by FC Copenhagen as the successor to Ståle Solbakken .
