career

The defender , who learned to play football at TSV Gilching, moved one season to VfB Coburg before joining TSV 1860 Munich after another season in Gilching . Under coach Max Merkel, he played in ten games in 1962/63 in what was then the first-class Oberliga Süd . The "Lions" won the championship in the Oberliga Süd and were thus qualified for the new concentration in the DFB, the Bundesliga from 1963/64. Before the start of the round, President Adalbert Wetzel's team had strengthened itself with Wilfried Kohlars , Petar Radenković and Rudolf Zeiser . Coach Merkel let stamina bolt until the sixties became the strongest league team. He squeezed top performance out of each and every one of them and at the same time destroyed the old-fashioned "Elf-you-have-to-be-friends" legend. Humpa made his debut on the 18th matchday, January 13, 1963, in a 2-1 home win against Karlsruher SC in the Oberliga Süd. Before goalkeeper Radenkovic, he formed the defender pair with Rudolf Steiner . In most of the duels he had to deal with the KSC left winger Horst Wild in the World Cup system that was predominantly used at the time. In his fourth league appearance on February 3, in front of 38,000 spectators in the stadium on Grünwalder Strasse, a 3-1 win against local rivals FC Bayern Munich was achieved in the derby. He fought against the young left winger Dieter Brenninger . On the last round match day, April 28, 1963, he ran in the 2-0 win at FC Bayern Hof, in his tenth league game, as a middle runner. In the subsequent final round of the German soccer championship, he was not used. Manfred Wagner and Rudolf Steiner were the regular defenders.

In the 1963/64 season, Humpa completed seven games in the Bundesliga , in the following season he was still part of the squad, but was no longer used. After his debut in the Bundesliga on January 11, 1964 in Braunschweig with a 1-0 away win, the Bundesliga chronicle 1963/64 recorded: “Delivered an impeccable middle runner game: Hans Humpa. In the cover center, however, there was a strong middle runner in Humpa, who condemned Jürgen Moll to ineffectiveness. “In the other missions he had it with prominent center forwards such as Franz Brungs (Borussia Dortmund, 6: 1), Christian Müller (1. FC Cologne, 2 : 2), Heinz Strehl (1. FC Nürnberg, 2: 2), as well as in the sensational 9: 2 home win on March 7, 1964 against Hamburger SV, with national center forward Uwe Seeler . Like Hans Reich , he represented the regular stopper Alfons Stemmer in seven Bundesliga games .

For the 1965/66 season he took over as a player-coach at VfL Waldkraiburg. Later he was also a youth coach at TSV Ampfing , where he made an outstanding contribution to the football training of his grandson Manuel Riemann . Hans Humpa is the grandfather of goalkeeper Manuel Riemann and striker Alexander Riemann .
