The Freundeskreis Uphill e. V. is a cycling club based in the Bodenseekreis in Baden-Württemberg .
history
The cycling club was founded on November 30, 2010 from a group of cyclists in the Lake Constance area that has existed since 2006 and is responsible for the project planning, construction and distribution of the Stoppomat in particular across the region . In addition, from 2006 to 2012 the Freundeskreis organized Germany's largest mountain time trial , the Lightweight Uphill and the German Mountain Championships in 2011 and 2012.
Stop machine
Since 2006 the Circle of Friends has built 16 Stoppomat systems for cycling clubs in Germany and Spain. At these permanent timing systems, cyclists and runners can take out, label and stamp a stamp card free of charge and race or run against the clock.
Tour-Stoppomat-Challenge
Together with the cycling magazine Tour , the Freundeskreis Uphill eV organizes the Tour-StoppOmat-Challenge with around 2500 hours of volunteer work (FkU eV for short) . In the ranking of all German popular sports events, the StoppOmat series, with around 22,000 participations, is just behind the Vattenfall Cyclassics and ahead of the German Cycling Cup in second place.
Lightweight uphill
As part of a unique opening event, a mountain time trial was organized, which was already Germany's largest event of its kind when it premiered. From 2006 to 2012, the “Ur-Stoppomat” hosted the Lightweight Uphill on the Höchst annual event. In 2011 and 2012, the FkU eV got the status of German Mountain Championships with the individual time trial competition . In 2012 the club and the main sponsor ended the racing series.
Grand opening
As the first cycling event in the BDR cycling calendar, the Great Opening will be organized as the opening of the cycling season at StoppOmat-Höchst on New Years Day. It began in 2007 with around 40 participants and was last reached on January 1, 2014 with 324 participants. The start of the season is increasingly becoming a permanent meeting point for the cycling community on the north of Lake Constance, offering the opportunity to meet thousands of cyclists who virtually ride against each other at the Stoppomat once a year and to exchange mulled wine for free.
L'Imperiale
From 2015 to 2017, the association was committed to attempting a record drive to Imperia , with which the city of Friedrichshafen has maintained a partnership since 2014. In five attempts, the cycling club tried to be the first of another 5 cycling clubs to come non-stop to the 612 km distant city on the Italian Riviera . After three failures, the club managed to break two records. After the sporting achievements became known, the club was honored with a certificate from the ACSI Ciclismo , a letter of congratulations from the Lord Mayor of Imperia, Carlo Capacci, and a reception from the Lord Mayor of Friedrichshafen, Andreas Brand .
