Lili Liliana

Lili Liliana , née Lili Zielinska (born October 23, 1913 in Warsaw ; † November 27, 1989 ) was a Polish actress of Jewish origin.

Life

From 1929 she performed in the choir of the Skala Theater in Warsaw while she was still attending high school. In 1931 she was hired by Moshe Broderzon for the Ararat cabaret . Later she moved to the Novoshtshi Theater . She married the actor Leon Liebgold and then worked with him in the same theaters.

In 1937 she went on a world tour with the cabaret group "Di yidishe bande". When the Second World War broke out , the theater troupe was in the United States of America, where they stayed during the war. She played in theaters in Detroit and Chicago. In 1943 she became a member of the Yiddish Actor's Union and played in New York while her husband was serving in the US Army.

She is buried next to her husband in Mount Hebron Cemetery in Flushing , Queens .
