Liliane Waldner

Liliane Waldner (born November 30, 1951 in Zurich ) is a Swiss business economist with a Bachelor of Business Administration , politician and trade unionist .

Life

Waldner was born in Zurich and grew up there too. She is the daughter of Yusufu Lule and the Swiss Hildegard Schwarz-Waldner (1930–1999). She only met her celebrity father at the age of 30. Yusufu Kironde Lule was already highly regarded as an academic, former university rector and deputy general secretary of the Commonwealth when he played a key role in the overthrow of the dictator Idi Amin and was shortly thereafter President of Uganda.

Career and work

Waldner initially worked in industry until she worked as a personal assistant to City Councilor Emilie Lieberherr on the City Council of Zurich from 1983 to 1994 . From 1986 to 2003 she was a member of the Cantonal Council of the Canton of Zurich for the SP until she was elected by the Cantonal Council in 2003 as a member of the Bank Council of the ZKB ; an office that she held until 2015. Until 2003, she also had a mandate as an EKZ administrator. From 2009 to 2016 she was a delegate of the Coop cooperative .

In terms of trade unions, she was active in the VPOD for many years , where she also presided over a subgroup of the VPOD Zurich Städtische from 1979 to 1983.

From 2004 to 2012 she was President of the Co-Operaid aid organization . This aid organization, which received the Zewo seal of approval in 1998 , is a neutral association based in Zurich. Waldner suffers from multiple sclerosis . She was always open about her illness-related restrictions. One of her favorite pastimes is going on long hikes along Swiss rivers, which she also published about.
