Lily Laskine

Lily Laskine (born August 31, 1893 in Paris , † January 4, 1988 there ) was a French harpist .

Life

Lily Laskine studied harp at the Paris Conservatory with Alphonse Hasselmans and Georges Marty and was a harpist at the Paris Opera from 1909 to 1926 . From 1948 to 1958 she was professor of harp at the Paris Conservatory.

She campaigned primarily for French composers . Her brilliant style was particularly suitable for the works of Claude Debussy , Maurice Ravel and Jacques Ibert . Albert Roussel , André Jolivet , Henri Martelli , Georges Migot , Claude Pascal and Pierre Sancan composed for them, among others .

Lily Laskine played a major role in the fact that the harp became an equal solo instrument in France at the beginning of the 20th century.

Since 1993 the " Concours de harpe Lily Laskine " has been held in Paris every three years. There prizes are awarded in the junior and senior classes.
