Lily Yulianti Farid (born July 16, 1971 in Makassar ) is an Indonesian writer and journalist.

Life

Lily Yulianti Farid studied agricultural engineering at Hasanuddin University in Makassar and worked as a journalist for the daily newspaper KOMPAS from 1996 to 2000 . Since 2001 she has lived mainly in Australia and completed a master's degree in "Gender and Development" at the University of Melbourne . In Melbourne she worked as a journalist for Radio Australia online from 2001 to 2004 and for the Japanese broadcaster NHK from 2004 to 2009 . On the Indonesian website Panyingkul! she published texts on women's rights, corruption and other topics, the first collection of which Makkunrai was printed in 2006. In 2008 a second collection of journalistic texts was published under the title Maiasaura .

Farid founded the annual Makassar International Writers Festival (MIWF) literature festival in 2011 .
