The bluish sea lavender ( Limonium cesium ) is a species of the genus sea ​​lavender ( Limonium ) in the leadwort family (Plumbaginaceae).

The bluish sea lavender is a lignified, bare, dense, richly branched, perennial plant at the base . The leaves are entire, spatulate, arise from a basal rosette and are absent during the flowering period. The inflorescence reaches heights of 20 to 60 centimeters and has delicate branches 2 millimeters thick and scales 2 to 3 millimeters long at the base. The lower branches are rigid, white in color, often floury and sterile. The spikelets have a length of 1 centimeter and are formed from single-flowered spikelets. The length of the inner cover sheet is 2.5 millimeters, that of the outer 0.5 millimeters. The calyx is up to 5 millimeters long and protrudes over the inner cover sheet. The crown is 7 to 8 millimeters long, 5 to 7 millimeters wide and pink in color. The chalice is longer than the tube.

Flowering time is from May to June.

Occurrence

The bluish sea lavender occurs in Spain in dry and more or less salty locations.
