Limonium hierapetrae is a species of the genus of the beach Lilac ( Limonium ) in the family of plumbaginaceae (Plumbaginaceae).

Limonium hierapetrae is a perennial subshrub that reaches heights of 20 to 40 (80) centimeters. The numerous stems are smooth to indistinctly grooved and branching in the lower third or lower half. Their sections are up to 100 millimeters long. The branches are light green, often brown and fragile towards the top. The leaves measure (15) 60 to 80 × 3 to 14 (18) millimeters. They are three-veined, oblong-lanceolate to oblong-obovate, blunt, smooth and glabrous. The leaf margin is flat to wavy and membranous.

The panicle is trugdoldig. The ears are up to 120 millimeters in size. They have 2 to 3 non-approaching or touching, one to two-flowered spikelets per centimeter. The inner bract is green when fresh and rust-brown when dry. It measures 4.2 to 5.8 × 3 to 3.5 millimeters and has a 1 millimeter wide skin border. The calyx is slightly curved, hairy when pressed and 4.2 to 5.6 millimeters in size. The crown is light blue to purple in color.

The flowering time is in May.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 43.

Occurrence

Limonium hierapetrae is on Crete in the regional districts Lasithi and Heraklion endemic . The species grows on the southeast coast by the sea on conglomerate and sand rocks.
