Company history
The company was founded in Dublin in December 1923 . Initially, Andrew Nolan, Richard Archer and George Robinson were the directors. They had their business on Lincoln Place and therefore chose Lincoln as the first part of the company name. The second part was contributed by Andrew Nolan, who owned the distribution rights for Buick . At first they worked as a car dealership . From 1927 they also sold Austin Motor Company vehicles . The assembly of Austin automobiles began in May 1936. From 1938 Rover vehicles were also sold.
Production was suspended during the Second World War . In 1946 it was continued. From 1948, Rover vehicles were also assembled. Nolan died in January 1949. The other two directors decided shortly thereafter to sell the company. In January 1950 it became Lincoln & Nolan (Holdings) Limited under the direction of Marquess of Headfort and William Good. In 1952, Good died in an airplane accident. H. Martin Brierley and Douglas Glover replaced him.
In 1956 the production rights for the Heinkel cabin were taken over by Ernst Heinkel Flugzeugwerke . International Sales was founded for production and marketing .
Herbert Blume, who was very involved in the Heinkel project, became sales manager in 1960. Together with Brierley, these have been successful years for the company. It held a 20% market share in Ireland.
Around 1958, Rover assembly and sales were transferred to Standard-Triumph (Eire) . In 1966 came the merger with GA Brittain for BLN Motor Company . The new company continued the assembly.
vehicles
The Austin 8 , Austin A 30 and Rover 75 have been securely handed down . In addition, the Mini was created as an Austin.
