Lincoln is a city in Placer County in the US state of California . It has about 42,819 inhabitants (status: 2010 census).

Lincoln was founded in 1859 by Theodore D. Judah . The city is named in honor of Charles Lincoln Wilson, one of the directors of the California Central Railroad Company .
