Scientific career

Linda Maria Koldau studied musicology , American studies and Romance studies at the University of Reading and the University of Mainz . Koldau received his doctorate in 2000 from the University of Bonn on Venetian church music by Claudio Monteverdi . In 2005 she qualified as a professor at the University of Frankfurt am Main with a thesis on women in early modern music culture. Both works were awarded university prizes. From 2006 to 2008 she was a deputy professor and headed the Institute for Musicology at the University of Frankfurt am Main; In 2009 she was offered the chair of musicology and cultural history at Aarhus University. Koldau is a member of several international research associations and interdisciplinary networks and has published extensively in various musicological and cultural-historical areas. From 1992 to 2002 she worked part-time as a music journalist for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung ; since 1995 she has been writing radio programs for various German cultural broadcasters. In her academic work, she represents an interdisciplinary, culturally-historically oriented musicology that illuminates the connections between music and social context on the basis of extensive knowledge of sources and musical analysis.

In 2012, Koldau resigned her chair in protest against the low level of education dictated by the institute's management and the Aarhus University's management policy, which violated the basic rules of free research and teaching. In 2012, Koldau's protest and the subsequent disciplinary measures at Aarhus University caused months of protests, articles and letters to the editor in the Danish media against the decline in the quality of education and free research at Denmark's universities. Koldau later documented her experiences in the three-volume documentary novel "Jante Universitet", which is also designed as a reference work for general problems in current university politics.

2013–2014, Koldau received a Marie Curie Senior Research Fellowship from the Gerda Henkel Foundation. During this time she worked at the history seminar of the University of Kiel on a project about the social consequences of large flood disasters. From 2013 to 2017, Koldau was an external research professor at the Institute for Cultural History at the History Department of the University of Utrecht.

Entrepreneur

In 2013, Koldau founded her own seminar company "Academy on the Cliffs". This academy offers corporate seminars for efficient work techniques and cultural seminars as well as lectures. Affiliated is the "Ehrenwort" text agency, which, in conjunction with the "Factual Texts" seminar, promotes linguistically concise and flawless texts in professional contexts. This academy is currently the focus of Koldau's work.

Animal medicine practice and behavioral research

In 2015–17, Koldau completed a dual training course as an animal health practitioner and animal physiotherapist at the Academy for Animal Natural Medicine ATM GmbH. Since 2016 she has been working part-time as a textbook author and lecturer in anatomy at this academy. Her specialty is house guinea pigs (Cavia porcellus), on which she conducts ethological and animal medicine research. Since 2017 she has published a pet guide, a four-volume textbook and several specialist articles in this area. Her first guinea pig children's book was published in 2019. Koldau works on a voluntary basis for the animal welfare organization Guinea Pig Aid eV.

Since 2018, Koldau has also campaigned for the protection of Australian wombats and, as a "wombassador" (wombat ambassador) in Germany, disseminates information about this endangered animal species and the work of the Sleepy Burrows Wombat Sanctuary near Canberra.
