Linda Sadnik

Linda Sadnik (born December 13, 1910 in Pettau ; † May 7, 1998 in Linz ) was an Austrian Slavist .

Life

Sadnik was born in Pettau (Ptuj in Slovenian) and moved to Graz with her family in 1923. After studying at the University of Graz , she initially taught Serbo-Croatian and Bulgarian as a language teacher and became a lecturer for these two languages ​​at the University of Graz in 1941. In 1943 she completed her doctorate here, and in 1947 she completed her habilitation. In 1959 she became professor for Slavic Philology at the University of Saarbrücken , and in 1968 she was recalled to the University of Graz, where she worked until her early retirement in 1975.

Her specialty was the research of Old Church Slavonic and Old Bulgarian. Together with her husband Rudolf Aitzetmüller she edited the "Concise Dictionary of the Old Church Slavonic Texts", she also published studies on Slavic accentology and various Old Church Slavonic monuments.
