The desert spot between Dimbach and Gerlachshausen

Lindhof (also Linkhof ) is a deserted area on the outskirts of the Schwarzach district of Gerlachshausen and the Volkach district of Dimbach in the Lower Franconian district of Kitzingen . The settlement probably only consisted of a few farms and was abandoned at an unknown time.

Geographical location

The desert is located in the far northeast of the Schwarzach municipality. The district of Volkach begins to the north, with the Dimbach district closest to Lindhof. A large forest area extends to the west, which leads to Reupelsdorf in Markt Wiesentheid . To the south is Düllstadt , to the southwest Münsterschwarzach and then Gerlachshausen. To the west lies Sommerach , separated by the Main Canal .

Today's corridor Linkhöftännig, where courtyards were located, is 206 meters high. The so-called Beerweinsbrünnl, still on Dimbacher district, was probably used as a water source and was the reason for the settlement. The Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation classifies the underground remains of the "desert of the late Middle Ages" as a ground monument .

history

The Einödhof Lindhof is only mentioned once in the sources and is only verifiable through the Linkhöftännig corridor. In a description of the Zent Stadtschwarzach from the year 1589, the way of the Zentknecht is described. After he had crossed today's deserted Ulberg and the existing village of Dimbach, he came to "ufm Lindhof bei dem Brünnlein". The farm was on the old cloister path to the Münsterschwarzach abbey .

After the village became desolate, probably in the 16th century, there was probably a border dispute between the villages of Gerlachshausen and Dimbach because the districts were re-divided. After the dispute was settled, a stone cross was erected between the two places , which is now a monument in Gerlachshausen .
