The mountain Lindig is a 247.2 m high elevation and is located in the district of Gerstungen in the Wartburg district in Thuringia .

The name is reminiscent of a former group of linden trees, which served the shepherds as a source of shade on the summit.

The mountain was already settled in the Neolithic Age, a small part of the numerous archaeological finds are in the permanent exhibition of the Gerstungen Werra Valley Museum .

In the Middle Ages, the mountain was used more intensively for agriculture through the creation of arable terraces.

Even today, arable land and meadows extend to the summit on the south and east sides. On the north side of the mountain is the area natural monument Wacholderheide. The Vietstrauchbach flows north and east around the Lindig mountain, the Seeligbach flows past to the south.
