The Hinsch Line is a museum and restaurant ship in Bremerhaven .

history

The ship was commissioned by Johann Hinsch from Wischhafen from the Gebrüder van Diepen shipyard in Waterhuizen. This built the type of ship in large numbers and delivered the coastal motor sailer to Hinsch on May 18, 1928 as Waterhuizen with hull number 655.

After ten years in service, the owner had the ship lengthened to its current size in August 1938 and installed a new Deutz diesel engine with 50 hp, which enabled the ship to travel at 6.5 knots . On October 25, 1941, the coastal sailor was renamed Line Hinsch . After Johann Hinsch's death, the ship went to the widow Adeline Hinsch on October 14, 1948, who kept the ship until 1955.

On October 6, 1955, the Hinsch line was sold to Johann Schmedje from Dornbusch. In April 1961, Schmedje had a new Deutsche-Werke diesel engine with 100 hp installed, which increased the possible speed to 7.5 knots.

After the Hinsch Line was transferred to a Ms. Ladiges from Hamburg on March 20, 1972, the ship moved to the inland shipping register on the 28th of the same month . Another three years later, on April 18, 1975, the ship was auctioned for 14,500 DM by Andreas Martens from Hamburg.

In 1988 the Bremerhaven Employment Company acquired the ship and restored it. Since its completion in June 1995, the Hinsch Line has been in Bremerhaven as a "pancoke ship" with interruptions.
