The Linha de Matosinhos is a former Portuguese narrow-gauge line that, as a suburban railway, connected Porto to Matosinhos , which is located by the sea . The starting point was the Porto Trindade train station in downtown Porto. The line was closed on December 2, 2002 and now serves as the central stop for Metro do Porto . This is where all five lines (A – E) of the tram, which opened in 2002, cross. Before the station was used by today's Metro do Porto, Trindade was the central station for narrow-gauge traffic to Trofa , Póvoa de Varzim and Matosinhos = Linha de Matosinhos .
