The Lion de Peugeot is a house in Montbéliard , a town in the Doubs département in the French region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté , built in 1909 and located at 37 Rue Cuvier. The building has been protected as an architectural monument ( Monument historique ) since 1992 .

history

The building opposite the station was built in 1909 for the Peugeot Frères company, based on plans by the architect Jean Walter .

architecture

The building mixes the neoclassical style in the lower area with a neo-Gothic style in the upper area. It is crowned by a soaring dome with a lantern . The words “Lion” and “Peugeot” are made of ceramic wall tiles on the third floor and underneath there is a relief , made by Alexandre Bigot , depicting a lion, the trademark of the Peugeot company that is known to this day .
