Liran Einav

Liran Einav (born November 1970 in Tel Aviv ) is an Israeli - American economist . He is a professor at Stanford University and primarily deals with industrial economics and microeconomics , particularly the insurance industry .

Career

Prior to his academic career, Einav spent eight years in the Israeli military (1988–1996) and worked as a software developer for one year (1996–1997). In parallel, he already visited the Tel Aviv University in his hometown and got there in 1997, the Bachelor of Arts degree in computer science and economics (Computer Science & Economics) . He then moved to Harvard University in the United States , where he received his master's degree in 2000 and a Ph.D. in 2002 under Ariel Pakes. received his doctorate . Einav then took on a position as assistant professor at Stanford University , which he held for ten years before he was appointed to a full professorship there in 2012. In addition, he has worked for the National Bureau of Economic Research since 2005 , where he has been Director of the Industrial Organization Program since 2016 .

He has been a member (fellow) of the Econometric Society since 2012 and was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2015.

Scientific work

Einav is mainly concerned with industrial economics and applied microeconomics in the insurance industry , so he published on the insurance market and consumer behavior in social insurance . Other focal points are adverse selection , moral hazard and the field of electronic trading . To date, he has published over 50 scientific articles.

In addition, Einav was or is involved in the publication of several specialist journals as co-editor, including the American Economic Journal: Applied Economics (2010–2013), Econometrica (2013–2017) and The American Economic Review (since January 2018).
