Lisa Milne

Lisa Milne (born April 22, 1971 in Aberdeen ) is a Scottish opera singer (soprano).

Life

Milne attended the North East of Scotland Music School from 1985 and studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama with Pat McMahon . She made her debut as an opera singer at the Scottish Opera as Alisia in L'elisir d'amore and sang Semele and Adele in der Fledermaus from 1994-1995 as well as several major Mozart roles. She has also appeared in the English National Opera , the Welsh National Opera , the Stuttgart Opera , the Royal Copenhagen Opera and at the Handel Festival in Göttingen.

In the Fidelio production of the Salzburg Festival she sang Marzelline under Simon Rattle in Japan, in the Metropolitan Opera she appeared as Pamina under James Levine . In 1998 she made her debut at Wigmore Hall and at the Edinburgh Festival under Sir Thomas Allen and Sir Charles Mackerras . With the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra under Simon Rattle she sang the world premiere of Simon Holt's Sunrise Yellow Noise . She has also performed at the BBC Proms , the Usher Hall in Edinburgh and with José Carreras at the Royal Albert Hall .

Milne took u. a. Albums with Hyperion (cantatas by Handel and Vivaldi and folk songs from the Hebrides), Decca ( Vaughan Williams ' Serenade to Music with Sir Roger Norrington ) and EMI. She teaches at the North East of Scotland Music School.
