Lisa Moorish

Lisa Moorish (* 1972 in Walworth , London , England ) is a British singer and songwriter .

Life

Moorish was born in Walworth but grew up in Brixton . Her father, Henry Watt, is Jamaican while her mother is from Middlesbrough . She has a son with Peter Doherty and a daughter with Liam Gallagher .

Career

Moorish began her professional career in 1989 at the age of 17 when she signed her first recording deal with Jive Records . With this label she released two singles , but after the lack of success, the contract was dissolved again. In 1991 she released two more singles on Polydor , but they also failed to reach the chart. In the mid-1990s she released her first album I Have Gotta Have It All (1996) and also a collaboration with George Michael ( I'm Your Man , number 24 in the UK singles chart).

In 1996 she sang background on the single Oh Yeah of the Irish indie band Ash , which reached the 6th place in the UK charts.

In the early 21st century she was a member of the Moorish indie band Kill City. In 2004 she released her debut album White Boys, Brown Girls on Alan McGee 's Poptones label. In 2005 the band released a cover of Fairytale of New York starring Johnny Borrell .

In 2006 she was a guest singer on the single Janie Jones (a cover of The Clash ) from the Babyshambles . This ranked 17th in the UK singles chart.
