Lise de la Salle (born May 8, 1988 in Cherbourg ) is a French pianist .

life and career

Lise de la Salle came into contact with painting and music at an early age through her family. Her mother sang in the choir, her grandmother was a piano teacher, and her grandmother, a Russian musician, had met Tchaikovsky . One of Lise de la Salle's great-grandmothers was a painter, and a great-grandfather Udo Einsild was a gallery owner of Modigliani and Soutine . Her grandfather owned a gallery in Vence in the south of France and in 1967 presented the first exhibition of the “École de Nice” there with works by artists such as Arman , Ben , Daniel Buren and Bernar Venet .

Lise de la Salle began playing the piano at the age of four, had her first concert broadcast by Radio France at the age of nine and studied from the age of eleven at the Conservatoire de Paris , most recently in the master class of Bruno Rigutto. Pascal Nemirovski and Geneviève Joy-Dutilleux were also among her teachers. In 2000 she won the first prize at the “7. International competition for young pianists ”in Ettlingen . At 17, Lise de la Salle graduated from high school. A few days before the last school exams, she recorded her third CD in Lisbon .

Her repertoire includes works by Bach , Mozart , Beethoven , Chopin , Liszt , Brahms , Ravel and, last but not least, the Russian composers Prokofiev , Shostakovich and Rachmaninov . Her musical role models include the pianists Vladimir Horowitz , Swjatoslaw Richter , Glenn Gould and Friedrich Gulda, as well as the singers Elisabeth Schwarzkopf , Maria Callas and Gundula Janowitz . “I want to make the audience forget that the piano is a percussive instrument. Lise de la Salle is regarded by critics as an “extreme talent” and is already one of the young concert pianists most in demand internationally.

From the 2009/10 to 2011/12 season, Lise de la Salle was an artist in the “Junge Wilde” series at the Dortmund Konzerthaus.

Lise de la Salle was Artist in Residence at the Zurich Opera House in the 2013/14 season .
