Liselotte Spreng (born February 15, 1912 in Biel , † November 25, 1992 in Villars-sur-Glâne ) was a Swiss women's rights activist and the first national councilor of the canton of Friborg .

Live and act

Liselotte Spreng was born in 1912 as the daughter of a doctor in Biel / Bienne . She studied medicine at the Universities of Bern and Lausanne and after completing her studies worked in her husband's practice in Friborg .

Spreng was strongly committed to women's suffrage and was president of the Freiburg Association for Women's Suffrage from 1967. After the introduction of women's voting rights in 1971, Spreng became a member of the Freiburg Grand Council for the FDP . From 1971 to 1983 she was the first woman in the canton of Friborg to be a member of the National Council. She was primarily involved in the areas of family law, charity, medicine and ethics.
