List of Brazilian chess players
The list of Brazilian chess players contains chess players who are or were eligible to play for the Brazilian Chess Federation and who meet at least one of the following conditions:
- Winner of one of the following FIDE titles: Grand Master , Honorary Grand Master , International Master , Grand Master of Women , International Master of Women;
- Holder of one of the following ICCF titles: Grand Master, Honored International Master, International Master, Grand Master of Women, International Master of Women;
- Winning a Brazilian individual championship (open class or women's competition);
- a historical Elo rating of at least 2500 (before the Elo rating was introduced in July 1971).
General
As of November 2018, 13 grandmasters, 28 international masters and nine international women masters are eligible to play for the Brazilian Chess Federation in local chess. Four international champions and one international female master have already passed away.
In correspondence chess, as of February 2016, twelve Brazilian players have the title of Grand Master, 19 that of an Honored International Master, 39 that of an International Master (including Iluska Pereira da Cunha Simonsen, the only woman who also has the LGM title), one of a Grand Master of Women and an International Master of Women. Of these, one Grand Master, three Merited International Masters and four International Masters have already passed away.
By February 2016, the Brazilian individual championship was played 82 times and the women's championship 55 times. The record champions are João de Souza Mendes , Jaime Sunye Neto , Giovanni Vescovi and Rafael Leitão with seven titles each, Regina Ribeiro won the women's competition with eight titles the most.
Another Brazilian player had a historic rating of over 2500 before June 1971.

- Year : Name the year the title was awarded
- ICCF : Names the highest ICCF title of the player (GM = Grand Master, SIM = Honored International Master, IM = International Master, LGM = Women's Grand Master, LIM = International Women's Master).
- Year : Name the year the title was awarded
- Title : Indicates the number of Brazilian individual championships won.
- Title (Women) : Indicates the number of Brazilian individual championships won by women.
- Historical Elo : For players who have neither FIDE nor ICCF titles and have never won a Brazilian championship, the highest historical Elo number achieved before July 1971 , provided it is at least 2500.
- Other associations : For players who were sooner or later eligible to play for at least one other association, this indicates these associations with the periods of eligibility to play (if known).
