Ensembles in Furth im Wald

Ensemble Pfarrstrasse

File number: E-3-72-126-2

Ensemble Pfarrstrasse

The street, which slopes steeply south from the town square to the former Furttor, is built on with residential buildings, mostly from the time after the town fire in 1863. On the west side, the town hall building from 1924 is followed by a group of three gabled houses with flat pitched roofs, then a closed group of eaves side houses stepped down into the valley. You are presented with a raised sidewalk with stairways. On the east side of the high rectory follow mainly gabled houses with flat pitched roofs.

The ensemble is dominated by the town hall and the rectory at the high transition to the town square. The lively effect of the street scene and its plastered facades is in some cases considerably impaired by modern shop window break-ins.

Ensemble town square

File number: E-3-72-126-1

Ensemble town square

The wide, north-south facing street market stretches between the Obertor, which was closed in 1863, and the northern end of Pfarrstrasse, which is a straight extension to the city exit at the former Furttor. The square was created when the settlement of Furt and the trunk road to Bohemia were moved from the valley to the mountain in the 13th century; it extends to the west below the former castle (compare Ensemble Schlossplatz). City charter was granted in 1332 at the latest.

The square, which expands at the southern end, has closed buildings, mostly created after the city fire of 1863, with plastered facades throughout: the east side with mostly three-story eaves-side residential and commercial buildings and restaurants, often with mezzanine and flat pitched roofs, the northern part also with flat gabled buildings, among which house number 24 is of particular importance in terms of urban development, the west side with eaves-sided two- and three-story residential and commercial buildings with varying ridge heights. The southern part of the town square is given special weight by the large official buildings and the rectory as well as the stately commercial buildings No. 4, 6, 8. The baroque figure of St. Johannes von Nepomuk in the middle of the square creates a special accent.

Ensemble Schlossplatz

File number: E-3-72-126-3

Ensemble Schlossplatz

The ensemble includes the development of the Schlossplatz, which is at the highest point of the city, and its entrances from the west and east. The facility dates back to the 13th century, when the Bavarian dukes built a new customs post and a castle to secure the trunk road to Bohemia east of the old village of Furt, which is located at the transition over the Chamb. The ducal care palace, already devastated in the Hussite Wars and the Thirty Years' War, was destroyed except for the noise tower in the town fire in 1863.

The high, neo-Gothic town tower, built in 1866, is reminiscent of the castle and its main tower, which together with the girls' school houses built on the site of the old castle forms the southern wall of the square, while the arched northern side is formed by small eaves-side houses with small front gardens that were built after the town fire . At the passage to the town square, the district court and the large residential building at Stadtplatz 4, at the passage to the Rosengasse, the simple residential buildings at Rosenstrasse 13 and 15 each form gate-like situations. The ensemble has been adversely affected by modern renovations at number 15 and 17.

Remarks

  1. This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
