Marktschellenberg ( location ) |
Ensemble town center Marktschellenberg | The ensemble includes the part of the market town north of the Berchtesgadener Ache. It is the train of the old main and thoroughfare between the Achenbrücke in the south and the end of the closed development in the north.
The settlement developed in the narrow, often endangered valley floor of the Ache after salt springs had been discovered at the end of the 12th century on the Dürrenberg and in 1212 on the Goldenbach , the brine of which was first mentioned in 1212 through wooden channels for settlement in a Pfann establishment built by the Berchtesgaden Provostry Place Schellenberg was headed. Already raised to a market in the 13th century, the place developed on both sides of the river, with the main emphasis on the parish church, the small, now changed market square and the saltworks, which was demolished in 1906 and dissolved in 1805, on the south side, while the north side was predominant is characterized by the closed development with bourgeois residential buildings, often dating back to the late Middle Ages, on both sides of the narrow Alte Salzburger Straße. The buildings, which are plastered throughout and, in a few examples, feature classicistic stucco facade, mostly have protruding flat gable roofs. In the southern part of the ensemble, three-storey construction predominates, the street scene here has an urban character; in the north part is only the east side with much more modest houses from the 18th and 19th centuries. Century built on, while gardens extend on the west side. In this area, the hipped roof buildings of the rectory and the former saltworks office set special accents. A special view of the ensemble emerges from the northern head of the historic Achenbrücke, where the Angererhaus, which was built in 1915 in the Heimat style, and the two parish halls, distinguished by their ground floor arcades, form a common front to the south. |

Remarks
- ↑ This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
