Königssee ( location ) |
Ensemble Schiffslände | The ensemble includes the built-up area of the Schiffslände at the north end of the famous eight kilometer long Königssees. At this point, the bank is mainly built up with hotels and ship huts, most of which date from the early 20th century and come together to form a uniform image that is characterized by the Berchtesgaden and Salzburg Heimatstil, enriched by neo-baroque and art nouveau motifs.
The buildings serve tourism, who had discovered the Königssee since the early 19th century. The lake became the epitome of high mountain romance and a travel destination, according to which painters, writers and travel authors had spread impressive images of nature such as that of the lake level in front of the Watzmann group, framed by cliffs. The villa of the Saxon Minister Friedrich Ferdinand von Beust , built in 1869 and unfortunately heavily modified, on a ledge at the entrance to the Malerwinkel, opposite the island of Christlieger, is evidence of the first settlements by strangers on the lake ; she belongs to the ensemble. The hotel buildings illustrate the boom in tourism on the lake around 1900, favored by modern means of mass transport such as the former Königssee line of the railway and the motor ship traffic introduced on the lake in 1909. Among these partly modified buildings, the Hotel Schiffmeister, built by Georg Zimmermann in 1912, has a special place with its richly decorated wooden extensions based on historical models and the veranda and entrance hall with its Art Nouveau elements. The thirteen ship huts of the Königssee-Schiffahrt, which were built according to plans by August von Thiersch after the fire of the old huts in 1918 and are rhythmically grouped in two rows on the bank, are of particular importance and largely determine the ensemble image. Their crooked hipped roofs, which are covered with sharp shingles, also correspond to historical models and correspond to the roofs of the Hotel Schiffmeister. The baroque shipmaster's chapel and the old Seewirtshaus are evidence of the oldest buildings on the site. The ensemble also includes the landing stages, the chestnut trees on the promenade, the kiosk buildings and the outbuildings of the hotels. |

Remarks
- ↑ This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
