The Königsseer Ache is a river that flows from the Königssee to Berchtesgaden . In Berchtesgaden it unites with the Ramsauer Ache and is called from here Berchtesgadener Ache . The length is 4.8 km (as the crow flies 4.1 km), measured from the weir at the northern exit of the Königssees to the confluence of the Ramsauer Ache. The discharge at the mouth is 8.3 m³ / s. The Traunstein Water Management Office is responsible for the running water.

The Königseer Ache begins at the Seeklause built in 1797, a weir to regulate runoff and lake level, with a wooden bridge for pedestrians and a shingle-roofed hipped roof . In the past, the weir was used for woodland (the wood felled around the Königssee was drifted on the Königsseer Ache until shortly before the confluence of the Königsseer Ache with the Ramsauer Ache at Triftplatz), hence the name as Trift weir. The building has its own house number , An der Seeklause 25 , and is a listed building under file no. D-1-72-132-105 of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation .

The regulation of the runoff from the Königssee into the Königsseer Ache is the subject of a citizens' initiative that calls for measures to reduce the risk of flooding along the Königsseer Ache.

The Königsseer Ache is not to be confused with the Königsseer Ache . The Berchtesgadener Ache on Austrian territory is called the Königsseeache.
