The Königsbachalm lies at 1190  m above sea level. NHN Höhe between Schönau and Gotzenalm in the Berchtesgaden Alps in the Berchtesgadener Land district . The Alm is located on the edge of the Gotzen Mountains , east of the Königsee and south of the Jenner , in the maintenance zone of the Berchtesgaden National Park .

The ascent from Königssee takes about 1½ hours via the elevated railway path. From the Königsbachalm you can get to the Königstalalm , Priesbergalm , Schneibsteinhaus and Gotzentalalm in various ways .

The Königsbachalm has a total of seven alpine huts, five of which are used for alpine farming and two for forestry. Four of these huts are built in block construction, three of them are masonry barns. The former Hainzenkaser, the eighth building, is now in the Glentleiten Open-Air Museum , as it is the oldest dated, completely preserved all-round barrel in Bavaria .

The Alpine Club hut there is a self-catering hut belonging to the Berchtesgaden section of the German Alpine Club . It was built in 1789 as an all-round barrel. The hut was leased from 1927 to 1937, but it was no longer used for alpine farming. In 1937 the Almrecht of the hut in the hunting area of Hermann Göring lapsed . Göring sold it in 1944 to the farmer Kollhofer, who changed the core of the hut and dissolved the all-round stable. Opposite the Alpine Club hut there is a mountain restaurant, which is fully serviced from May to October and where it is not possible to stay overnight. This was built as an unhistorical solid structure in place of a dilapidated all-round barracks and opened in 1975.
