A part of the Hagengebirge , a mountain range of the Berchtesgaden Alps , is called Gotzenberge . They include the peaks in front of the Hagengebirge plateau to the west, which are separated from the border peaks on the edge of the high plateau by the Landtal and the Schlunggraben and which drop off steeply towards the Königssee . The Gotzenberge lie entirely on Bavarian territory.

The area is characterized by - partially abandoned - alpine pastures , z. B. Gotzenalm , Priesbergalm , Gotzentalalm , Königsbachalm , Königstalalm , Königsbergalm , Regenalm or Roßfeldalm .
