Mountain Victims Memorial Chapel St. Bernhard
Immediately next to the Kührointhütte is the small St. Bernhard memorial chapel. This was built in the 1990s and consecrated to Saint Bernard of Menthon on September 11, 1999 . It commemorates the more than 1000 well-known mountain hikers and mountaineers who perished in the Berchtesgaden Alps. The sculptures of saints in the chapel were created in the wood carving school in Berchtesgaden. There is a vertical sundial in the entrance area of the chapel (southeast) .
