The attic originally adorned groups of putti with attributes of the merchant class, which indicated the activity of the owner.

Bourgeois house with barracks, Ernst Haeckel's birthplace with a memorial plaque The houses were built between 1722 and 1728 based on designs by the court architect Pierre de Gayette. The natural scientist Ernst Haeckel was born in house number 7 in 1834. House No. 8 was used to house soldiers in the 18th century. It was increased and greatly changed in the 19th century.

Chamber of Accounts The so-called “Brockes'sche Haus” , also called “Brockes'sches Palais”, was built in 1776 for the glass cutter Johann Christoph Brockes based on a design by Carl von Gontard . French palace buildings from the 17th century served as a model. From 1817 it was used by the Chamber of Accounts , after the Second World War by the Deutsche Post telecommunications office and from 1989 to 2007 by Deutsche Telekom .
